Habeo is building the asset system of record for higher education — a modern IT asset management platform designed to replace ServiceNow ITAM at universities, with native Workday integration, GASB 34/35 compliance, and continuous device data ingestion from Jamf, Intune, and Google Admin. We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale the core platform that powers our asset ledger, CMDB, and integrations.
This role is 100% remote. Habeo is remote-first and accepts applicants located anywhere in the world.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and ship features across the core product, from the asset ledger and CMDB to integrations with systems like Workday, Jamf, Intune, and Google Admin
- Own significant pieces of the architecture, making decisions about data models, APIs, and system design that will scale with customer growth
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and participate actively in code review
- Collaborate closely with product and design to translate customer needs (from IT asset managers, controllers, and grant administrators) into shipped functionality
- Debug and resolve complex production issues, with an eye toward reliability and data integrity given Habeo's role as an institutional system of record
- Mentor other engineers and help raise the technical bar across the team
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, building and shipping production systems
- Strong fundamentals in backend or full-stack development, including API design, data modeling, and working with relational databases
- Experience owning features end-to-end, from design through deployment and monitoring
- Comfort working in a fast-moving environment with evolving priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially when working cross-functionally with product and customer-facing teams
- Track record of writing high-quality, tested code and participating constructively in code review
Nice to have
- Experience building integrations with third-party or enterprise systems (SSO/SAML, HR or ERP systems, MDM platforms)
- Experience with systems that model complex relationship graphs or audit trails
- Background working on compliance-sensitive or audit-sensitive software
- Familiarity with higher education, IT operations, or asset management domains
