Habeo vs Asset Panda

Habeo is a higher-education-native asset system of record with a built-in CMDB, MDM-native discovery, GASB 34/35 depreciation, and InCommon federation; Asset Panda is a general-purpose configurable asset tracker priced per-asset that ships strong barcode and mobile workflows but does not include a CMDB graph, native MDM connectors, GASB depreciation schedules, or higher-education-specific compliance language. Habeo is the better fit for R1 and R2 institutions, multi-campus systems, and any IT team that needs to pass a fiscal-year audit on Uniform Guidance §200.313 obligations.

Honest assessment

When to choose Asset Panda over Habeo.

We'd rather lose a sales cycle early than waste your time. Here's when Asset Panda is the better call.

If your primary use case is barcode-driven inventory of a single asset class (e.g., 1:1 student laptops, AV equipment) and you do not need a CMDB, depreciation schedules, or audit-grade Uniform Guidance reporting, Asset Panda's mobile-first approach is hard to beat.

Frequently asked

Habeo vs Asset Panda, answered.

The questions we hear in every procurement review. Answered briefly, sourced where we can.

Is Asset Panda a good fit for universities?
Asset Panda is widely adopted in K-12 and at small colleges with simple inventory needs. For R1 or R2 universities with grant-funded equipment, GASB 34/35 depreciation requirements, and multi-campus structures, the lack of a native CMDB, depreciation engine, and Uniform Guidance §200.313 tagging means most institutions outgrow it.
Can I migrate from Asset Panda to Habeo?
Yes. Habeo provides a documented import for Asset Panda CSV exports, including custom fields. Migration is included with first-year contracts.
Does Asset Panda do depreciation?
Asset Panda supports custom fields for purchase date and cost, and can compute straight-line depreciation in reports. It does not implement GASB 34/35's modified-approach method for infrastructure and capital assets natively. Habeo ships GASB 34/35 schedules out of the box.
What about discovery?
Asset Panda discovers assets primarily through manual entry, barcode scanning, and a Jamf integration. Habeo reads continuously from Jamf, Intune, Google Admin, and Kandji at no additional cost.
