See what depends on what.

The live institutional dependency graph for every host, license, person, and grant. Built from your MDM and Workday in real time — not a quarterly Excel export glued together by a consultant. Plan changes with confidence. Pass audits in an afternoon.

Why a different CMDB for higher ed

Two ways to build an institutional graph.

ServiceNow CMDB

A generic CI model, populated quarterly.

Discovery sold separately. CIs entered by a consultant. Refresh on a cron job. Higher-ed concepts? Bring your own data model and a six-week implementation.

Habeo CMDB

A higher-ed graph, populated continuously.

Nodes and edges are a live read-through of your MDM and Workday — joined inside the tenant. Grants, college units, GASB capital classes, FERPA scope: native node types out of the box.

What lives in the graph

Eleven node types built for universities.

Higher-ed reality — grants, college units, capital classes, surplus lots — is in the data model. You don't teach Habeo what these are. It already knows.

What you actually see

One asset, every connection, both directions.

Open the Imaging Workstation page. The graph fans out — host, software, NAS, microscope, VLAN, two faculty, an NSF grant, and the Riverpoint Physics college unit. Everything you need to plan a refresh, in one view.

What you actually use it for

The three jobs the CMDB does first.

Pass FY audit in an afternoon.

Auditors ask "what assets are tied to NSF DMR-2304128?" — and you answer in 20 seconds, not 20 hours of joining spreadsheets. Federal property inventory is one click.

/reports/federal-property

Plan a refresh without breaking research.

Before the Riverpoint imaging refresh, you see the two faculty workflows and the active NSF award that depend on the workstation pair. Sequence the swap accordingly.

/refresh/plan

Triage incidents with full blast radius.

Lab NAS down. Open its CMDB page; see every host, license, person, and grant exposed. Page the right faculty before they page you.

/incidents/impact
For your CISO and your auditor

A CMDB your security review will sign off on.

Immutable audit trail on every edge.

Reassignments, grant linkages, dependency changes — all timestamped with the originating Workday event or MDM payload preserved.

College-unit RBAC on the graph itself.

A Westmark asset manager only sees the Westmark slice of the graph. The same scope that gates /assets gates the CMDB and the Read API.

Read API in JSON or CSV.

Every node and edge is queryable through the Habeo Read API. Federal property inventory and FY-close exports are first-class formats.

Bidirectional graph traversal.

Ask what depends on a host, or what a host depends on. Impact analysis and dependency analysis from the same page.

Frequently asked

CMDB, answered.

The questions buyers ask in every procurement review. Answered briefly, with the technical detail your CIO will ask for next.

How is this different from ServiceNow's CMDB?
Two ways. First, source: ServiceNow's CMDB is populated by a discovery engine sold separately, configured by consultants, and refreshed on a schedule. Habeo's CMDB is the live read-through view of MDM (Jamf, Intune, Google Admin) and Workday, joined inside the tenant boundary. Second, model: ServiceNow's CMDB is a generic IT CI model. Habeo's includes higher-ed-native node types out of the box — Grant, College Unit, GASB Capital Class, FERPA scope — so you don't pay a consulting engagement to teach it what a university is.
How often does the graph update?
MDM-sourced nodes (hosts, OS state, FileVault/BitLocker, compliance) refresh hourly and on-demand. Workday-sourced edges (person → asset, supervisory org → department) update on every Workday position event we receive. The audit log records every node and edge mutation with the source and a UTC timestamp.
Can we query the CMDB from outside Habeo?
Yes. Every node and edge is exposed through the Habeo Read API with the same college-unit RBAC that gates the UI. Examples: "every asset under NSF DMR-2304128," "every host running ImageJ 1.54," "every person in Westmark Faculty with a refresh due in FY26." Output is JSON; Excel-compatible CSV and federal property inventory reports are first-class export formats.
What audit story does the CMDB tell?
Every node and every edge has an immutable audit trail. Reassignments, grant linkages, status transitions, dependency changes — all timestamped, with the originating Workday event or MDM payload preserved. Auditors get one place to look. The same audit log is what backs the Habeo Copilot and the rest of the product, so there's no per-feature log to correlate.
Can I use it for incident impact analysis?
Yes. The graph is bidirectional — you can ask what a host depends on, and what depends on the host. Open the Imaging Workstation 04 page during a NAS outage and you see every grant, person, and software license that's exposed. This is the most common reason design partners say they pulled the CMDB in.
See it on your data

Bring your messiest asset.

On the demo call we'll connect your sandbox MDM and Workday tenant and walk the graph for an asset your team currently spends an hour chasing in spreadsheets. 30 minutes, founder-led, no SDR triage.
